City of Moncton Announces 2023 Fees and Charges 2022-12-21

Moncton City Council approved the 2023 fee schedule for municipal services at its regular council meeting on Dec. 5. The fees will take effect Jan. 1, 2023.

The following is a summary of changes to the fees and charges for 2023:

  • Planning and Development fees for urban planning have increased by 2.5 per cent. This includes fees for services such as applications for zoning amendments, variance applications, subdivision applications, and development permits. Fees for building inspection remain the same.   • Parking rates will remain unchanged, with the exception of hourly rates in the Robinson Street lot (up 50 cents to $2.50 per hour) and parking meter rental rates (down $5 to $160 per month).
  • Codiac Transpo single fares remain steady at $3; all passes (30-day, group, 10- and 20-ride passes) will increase by $2.
  • Rates for some attractions will increase in 2023:
    • Magnetic Hill Illusion — increase of $1 per vehicle and $5 per tour bus
    • Magnetic Hill Zoo — regular admission remains unchanged; season memberships will be increasing between $5 and $10; day camp fees remain unchanged, week-long camp fees will increase by $10
    • Resurgo Place — increase of $1 per person to group rates and $1 to the family rate; regular admission fees remain unchanged
  • Some room and facility rental fees are increasing, while others remain unchanged: 
    • Sports field rentals — rates remain unchanged; lights at turf fields will now be charged at $30 per session rather than $25 per hour
    • Moncton Market — unchanged
    • Crossman Community Centre-Kay Arena — unchanged
    • Moncton Coliseum — room rentals remain unchanged, but facility rental rates have increased for the Coliseum and exhibition halls
    • Resurgo Place — room rental fees have increased between $5 and $15
  • Taxi licence fees will increase by $20 to $95 per year as part of a three-year gradual increase to $110 by 2024.
  • Dog licensing fees remain unchanged, but the cost of replacing a lost licence will increase from $2 to $10 and the cost of reclaiming an impounded animal will increase from $60 to $100.
  • Streets and services permits and other Engineering Department fees have increased.
  • Fees for water and wastewater as well as legal services remain the same as 2022.
