Codiac Transpo Announces Transit Service Adjustments 2024-08-26

Codiac Transpo wishes to inform the public about upcoming service changes that will be implemented on Sept. 1. These changes are aimed at improving the efficiency and availability of public transportation within the region.

Effective Sept. 1, the following changes will come into effect:

  • The following routes will see a full schedule change from Monday to Friday: 61 Elmwood, 64 Hospitals, 66 Caledonia, and 94 Centrale.
  • Early morning and late afternoon service trips will be added to the 61 Elmwood, 64 Hospitals, and 94 Centrale routes on weekdays. 
  • The two hours of service from the 53 Mapleton will be added to the 50 Red Line from Monday to Saturday as the 53 Mapleton route will be discontinued.
  • Time adjustments on the 62 Hildegard due to the implementation of traffic calming measures on Twin Oaks Drive. 
  • Time adjustments on 94 Centrale on Saturday and Sunday.

The following two routes will undergo route extensions and complete schedule changes from Sunday to Saturday:

51 Green Line: 

  • This route will stretch north on Mountain Road, extending just beyond the Magnetic Hill Zoo. 
  • In the northbound direction, buses on this line will access Plaza via Mountain Road instead of Mapleton Road, and the bus stop will be relocated to the south side of Plaza Blvd. Buses travelling downtown will continue to depart from the north side of Plaza Boulevard. 
  • Due to these adjustments, the 51 Green Line will no longer stop on Mapleton Road. These stops will be serviced by 65 Killam. 
  • The adjustments are reflected in the route map. 

60 Bessborough: 

  • This route will take the bus down Millennium Boulevard, right on Russ Howard Drive, onto the traffic circle, exit on Killam Drive, and left to loop back on Millennium Boulevard. 
  • These changes aim to benefit youth accessing sports facilities on Russ Howard Drive and residents in the Croasdale and Grand Trunk areas, as well as accommodate residents on Millennium Blvd. 
  • These adjustments are reflected in the route map.

 

The following bus stops will be relocated one to two blocks away. Notification signage is installed at affected bus stops.

51 Green Line: 

  • 587 Mountain Rd. (M0720) will relocate to 551 Mountain Rd. (one block away)
  • 651 Mountain Rd. (M0794) will relocate to 681 Mountain Rd. (one block away)
  • 735 Mountain Rd. (M0240) will relocate to 803 Mountain Rd. (two blocks away)

60 Bessborough: 

  • St. George Boulevard/Fairview Drive (M0771) will relocate to St. George Boulevard/Greenwood Drive (two blocks away)
  • 35 Sixth St. (M0283) will relocate to Douglas Avenue/Seventh Street (50 m away)
  • Douglas Avenue/Eighth Street (M0772) will relocate to Douglas Avenue/Seventh Street (one block away)
