City of Moncton Unveils Interactive Booth for Earth Day 2025-04-22

This Earth Day, the City of Moncton is unveiling a new interactive educational booth designed to help residents better understand where their greenhouse gas emissions come from.
Located in the City Hall lobby, the booth features a pulley system that allows visitors to experience the weight of daily CO₂ emissions associated with transportation, housing, food, and consumer goods. This hands-on display highlights the primary contributors to emissions in the average Canadian lifestyle and provides practical guidance on how individuals can reduce their environmental impact.
“One big problem with carbon emissions is that you don't notice how much you're emitting. They're invisible and, for most people, kind of abstract – even while the effects are very real,” says Tim Moerman, Director of Environmental Planning & Management. “This booth lets you really feel how much greenhouse gas we're each putting out every day. We hope it will help residents reduce their own contributions to global heating.”
Following its Earth Day launch, the booth will travel to various locations across the city to ensure broader public access to this important educational initiative.
Residents can visit the City of Moncton website for more information on how to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions.
