City of Moncton Encouraging Residents to Participate in June is Parks and Recreation Month 2022-05-30
June is recognized annually as Parks and Recreation Month. This year, the City will be participating in the ParticipACTION Community Better Challenge and offering a number of recreational activities for residents throughout the month. Each day of the week, a type of activity will be offered, providing residents with a number of events throughout the month of June.
“We are fortunate in Moncton to have so many trails, green spaces, and areas for activities for our residents to explore” says Mayor Dawn Arnold. “We would like to thank Participaction for their support and for encouraging Canadians across the country to participate in recreation activities throughout the month of June. Above all, we would encourage all residents to try at least one activity throughout the month!”
Throughout the month of June, the following activities will take place:
- Mondays: Lawn Bowling at Centennial Park
- Tuesdays: Evening fun at neighbourhood playgrounds throughout the City
- Wednesdays: Splash pad nights at the Moncton North YMCA
- Thursdays: Evening guided walks at regional parks
- Fridays: Open swim at YMCA of Greater Moncton
- Saturdays: Tennis with Moncton Tennis Club
In addition to the scheduled activities, Camp Centennial will be opening their climbing wall for free to the community on select dates. Pre-registration is required by visiting https://campcentennial.booqable.shop. When residents participate in these activities, or enjoy recreation in their own ways, they are encouraged to download the Participation app on their mobile device and track their minutes of physical activity in the app.
These activities are either free or being offered at a reduced rate for residents, subsidized by the City. For additional details, location, and information, residents are encouraged to visit https://www.moncton.ca/jrpm.
