Atlantic Slam Announces Two of Four Teams for 2025 Multi-team Event 2024-11-16

Atlantic Slam, in partnership with the City of Moncton, On Ice Entertainment, and the Big South Conference, is thrilled to announce two of the four NCAA Division I teams that will compete in the 2025 Atlantic Slam event. During halftime of Saturday’s Atlantic Slam game, Senior Associate Commissioner for the Big South Conference, James Holland, announced that the Towson Tigers and UC Irvine Anteaters will join the 2025 lineup as two of the four participating teams. The remaining two teams will be announced in the new year. 

The Tigers and Anteaters, who are both competing in the Western Slam this year, have expressed their excitement about participating in the tournament next season. 

“We are thrilled and excited to participate in Atlantic Slam in 2025 and visit the beautiful city of Moncton,” says Pat Skerry, Head Coach, Towson University. We appreciate the opportunity to work with On Ice Entertainment in this competitive tournament.” 

UC Irvine’s Head Coach, Russell Turner, is also enthusiastic about the opportunity for his team to participate in the Atlantic Slam in 2025.  

“Our program is very excited to be returning to Canada for the Atlantic Slam in 2025. The people there have been great to us, and we really look forward to some great basketball again,” he says.  

Returning to a multi-team event (MTE) format in 2025, Atlantic Slam is set to bring even more high-level college basketball to Atlantic Canada.  

“We are eagerly anticipating the return of the Atlantic Slam to the MTE format in 2025,” says Bill Whalen, co-chair of the City of Moncton’s Events Moncton Committee. “This format allows us to showcase multiple high-calibre teams and enhance the experience for fans. Atlantic Slam has quickly become a staple in Moncton’s sports calendar, and we are thrilled to offer fans another exciting lineup of NCAA Division I basketball teams.” 

The remaining teams for the 2025 Atlantic Slam will be announced in the new year. The 2025 event will give fans the opportunity to watch regular-season NCAA Division I basketball, featuring teams from across the United States. 

Ticketing Information 

Event packages for the 2025 Atlantic Slam will be available for purchase on the Avenir Centre website on Dec. 9. A special discount will be offered for those who purchase before the end of 2024.
