Documents required when applying for a taxi owner licence
All fees listed are current as of Jan. 1, 2023. External fees may have changed without notice.
All documents must be included with your application.
- Criminal Record Check – request in-person from the RCMP (520 Main St.); the document must be signed and include a Vulnerable Sector check, dated within 12 months of your application, and must be the original document, no copies accepted. (Fee: $55)
- New Brunswick Vehicle Registration Certificate – vehicle must be less than 10 years old.
- Proof of Insurance – Insurance policy document issued in the name of the licence holder in an amount of at least $2 million, without any limit on any claim up to that amount regardless of the number of persons involved or the nature of the damage.
- HST registration number – required if you are a self-employed taxi operator as defined by the Canada Revenue Agency. Apply for a HST number through the Government of Canada. (No cost)
