Emergency Measures Organization
Building a disaster-resilient and sustainable community.
Emergency Coordination Centre
In the event of an emergency, the City of Moncton may choose to activate its Emergency Coordination Centre (ECC). The ECC is operated by City of Moncton staff drawn from relevant departments across the organization. The make up of the ECC changes to meet the needs of the emergency.
The ECC team also closely tracks anything that has the potential to turn into an emergency situation so it is prepared to respond immediately if necessary.
Emergency Measures Plan
The City has also developed a Municipal Emergency Measures Plan that outlines the procedures the municipality will follow to respond to an emergency, as well as actions to support emergency mitigation, preparedness, and recovery.
The City’s emergency management program takes an all-hazards, Incident Command System (ICS)-based approach to emergencies.
Responsibility for the management of municipal emergency operations rests with the Mayor and Council. The Council is the ultimate authority for decision making during an emergency while delegating operational decisions to the director of the Municipal Emergency Measures Organization (MEMO) or their designate.
Moncton Alerts
Moncton Alerts, the City of Moncton’s emergency management and alerting system, is used during municipal emergencies to share important information.
