City of Moncton to Host Newcomer Job Fair in May 2023-05-04
The next in-person Greater Moncton Job Fair for newcomers and international students will be taking place Friday, May 12, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Avenir Centre (150 Canada St., Moncton). Part-time and full-time employment positions will be available, and all members of the public are welcome to attend.
According to census data, immigrants tend to arrive with high levels of education: 52 per cent of immigrants living in the Moncton CMA and 59 per cent of non-permanent residents have studied in universities.
“Newcomers bring with them considerable education, skills, and experience that contribute to enriching and diversifying the local community,” says Moncton Mayor Dawn Arnold. “Job fairs help connect those newcomers looking for meaningful employment to organizations looking to fill positions with highly-educated and talented individuals.”
The Greater Moncton employment fairs, executed in partnership with a wide variety of community partners and partially funded by Working NB, aim to support the fast-growing newcomer population by providing career growth opportunities in the area. Participants can register online or at the door on the day of the event.
The City of Moncton outperforms the nation and region on key labour force indicators, leading the way with its high employment rate of 59 per cent and low unemployment rate of 9.1 per cent, according to a demographic and economic profile of Moncton prepared by DMS Continuum in February 2023.
